Client Reviews

“I recently had the pleasure of buying an original caricature of Vivienne Westwood created by Toby, a talented local artist, and it truly captures the essence of her iconic persona. The piece is bold, playful, and full of character—just like Westwood herself. The exaggerated features are done tastefully, highlighting her distinctive style and rebellious spirit without losing the elegance that defines her legacy in fashion.

What stands out most is Toby’s ability to blend humour with respect. The caricature doesn’t feel mocking; instead, it celebrates Westwood’s individuality and influence. The use of colour and detail adds vibrancy, making the artwork not only eye-catching but also a conversation starter. It’s a refreshing interpretation that feels both modern and timeless.

This piece would appeal to anyone who admires Vivienne Westwood or appreciates unique, expressive art. It’s a wonderful example of how local talent like Toby can bring global icons to life in a way that feels personal and original.”

- Kim Evans, on a portrait commission of Vivienne Westwood

“I've been following Toby on his art journey on Facebook. I saw some drawings involving Tea. I thought that was very cool and wanted one for my partner's  birthday. Toby was very accommodating as it was very short notice. I gave him a picture and he created his sketch. My partner and I were very happy. “

- Abbi Wright, on a portrait of her partner

“I ordered a commission piece from Toby after seeing his art on social media. I was wanting a portrait of Amy Winehouse for a gift and honestly I couldn’t have asked for more.

From the initial messages outlining what I would like to the finished product, Toby was brilliant in communicating and making sure I was happy with what I received.

As well as being an exceptional artist he is also reasonably priced and worked so quickly! will definitely be ordering from Toby in the future!”

- Robyn Twitchin, on a portrait commission of Amy Winehouse

“I’m absolutely delighted with the piece that Toby’s done for me, it’s a beautiful picture of my late father.

The detail is fantastic. The communication  was so good, also the price was great.

Such a brilliant artist and one I’ll definitely be buying more.”

- Lisa Radford, on a portrait commission of her father

We invited Toby into the sixth form to work with a small group of A Level art and photography students, and he did not disappoint.

From the outset, he was well prepared, organised and thoughtful in his planning, delivering a structured and engaging day of activities that enabled students to develop their portfolios. As a teacher, I was amazed at how quickly the students progressed from drawing simple lines and shapes to producing full portraits and I was particularly impressed by the confidence they gained in such a short space of time.

The students thoroughly enjoyed the day and left feeling positive and proud of the work they had completed. Toby is warm, friendly and connected effortlessly with the group, openly sharing his own experiences and offering valuable advice on how students could maximise their learning.

He is incredibly talented and dedicated, and I would not hesitate to invite him back.

- Ellie Wilson, Art teacher at Teignmouth Community School on an A-Level workshop

Working with Toby was a revelation –

after attempting to illustrate my work myself, I knew I needed someone with a better skill set and understanding.

Toby took my rough sketches and produced exactly what I’d envisioned, with great communication and talent.

I could not commend his work ethic or attitude enough, and will hope to work with him again for future projects.

- Joe Allison, author of ‘What’s a Crab to Do?’

“I asked Toby to draw a picture for me of my Mum. I was over the moon with the result, it is so lifelike and captured her expression exactly.

Toby was very easy to deal with, very polite and reasonably. I am more than satisfied and would definitely recommend him to others”

- Janice Lucas, on a portrait commission of her Mother
